Holistic Feet

Our feet are our foundations; yet they are the only body part that we put in supportive/restrictive casts (shoes) most of the day. While working with a variety of clients over the last decade, the most common “dysfunction” that I observed is a lack of ankle mobility and foot function. This prevents you from sitting in a deep squat, affects your lunging pattern, and literally every step you take. Many professionals would agree that this epidemic can be attributed to the supportive shoes that most people spend the majority of their active lives in. Holistic Feet takes a ‘ground up’ approach by first addressing major mobility restrictions. By utilizing deep tissue work and advanced stretching techniques, we restore proper mobility in the toes, arches, feet, and ankles. Each exercise we do barefoot as we start to train reactivity and stability back into our feet and ankles. This all builds us up to low intensity, high volume sets to dramatically increase circulation and strength to the feet and lower legs. This approach allows restoration to the tissue and is a perfect recipe for rehab, injury prevention, increased recovery to the area, and all-around lower leg health and function.

This course can be completed at a gym or home with minimal equipment.

Equipment Utilized: dense foam roller, hard and supportive cylindrical object or lacrosse ball. Slant board, curb or stack of books / bricks. Yoga block, yoga mat, wall, BOSU® Ball or foam cushion.
